Mint phases and allowlists explained

Updated 3 Nov 2026

A mint does not have to open for everyone at once. A launch can be divided into phases, each with its own rules for who may mint, what it costs and how many NFTs one wallet may take.

What is a mint phase?

A phase is a period with its own rules: who may mint, the price, the token it is paid in and the limit per wallet. Phases can follow one another or overlap. Once a phase has started it is locked, so buyers always mint under the rules they saw.

The kinds of phase

  • Public: everyone may mint.
  • Allowlist: only the wallets on a list, each with its own amount. The list is stored in the contract, so it cannot be changed behind your back.
  • Holders: only wallets that hold NFTs of the collections the creator chose. With one mint per NFT, every qualifying NFT can be used once in that phase.
  • Burn to mint: you send NFTs of another collection to a dead address and get a new one in return. Burned NFTs cannot be recovered.

A typical setup

Many creators start with an allowlist phase for early supporters at a lower price, then a holder phase, and then open a public phase for whatever is left. A price that rises as the collection sells rewards early buyers: if a purchase crosses a step, each NFT is charged at the price of its own step.

How to check whether you can mint

Open the launch page and connect your wallet. The mint panel says whether your wallet can mint now and how many. You can also paste any wallet into the allowlist checker to see which phases it is on.

Frequently asked questions

How many mint phases can a launch have?

Up to 8.

Can I mint in several phases?

Yes, as long as you stay within the limit of each phase and the creator's total limit per wallet.

Can a creator change an allowlist later?

Only for a phase that has not started yet. After a phase starts, its rules are locked.
